Patch release for Magma V2.23-12. Updated areas: Arithmetic Geometry, Commutative Algebra, Function Fields, Polynomial Rings.

Arithmetic Geometry

  • A bug in the Chabauty function has been fixed. Fix provided by M. Stoll.

Commutative Algebra

  • A crash in the F4 algorithm coming out of ProbableRadicalDecomposition has been fixed. Reported by M. Zieve.
  • A rare incorrect result in the F4 algorithm in medium characteristic finite fields has been fixed. Reported by L. Borisov.
  • A hang in the Groebner Walk algorithm with ideals with dense polynomials has been fixed. Reported by M. Stoll.

Function Fields

  • An error in the computation of the exact constant field has been fixed for fields which are an extension of the constant field but whose defining polynomials are scalar multiples of a polynomial over the constant field by a rational function. Reported by M. Zieve.

Polynomial Rings

  • A hang when factoring polynomials defined a chain of polynomial quotient rings in small characteristic has been fixed.
  • Some leaks in polynomial operations have been fixed.
  • A hang in the computation of complex roots of polynomials has been fixed. Reported by D. Barth.
