Magma V2.14-5 Patch Notes

Patch release for Magma V2.14-5. Updated areas: Arithmetic Geometry, Galois Groups, Group Theory, Groups, Matrices and 4 more.

9 areas

Arithmetic Geometry

  • A bug in Points for Jacobians has been corrected.
  • A bug in HasSquareSha for Jacobians (which could result in an incorrect rank bound) has been fixed.
  • New functionality for genus one models, which had been inadvertently omitted, is now included.

Galois Groups

  • Two bugs in the Galois package independently found by N. Bruin and P. Mueller have been fixed. Both address problems in computations with certain non-monic polynomials.

Group Theory

  • The Atlas database atlas.tar.gz has been updated for 2.14. This new database must be used with the 2.14 executable.

Groups

  • A bug when the hom constructor for pc-group domain is not given enough arguments has been fixed. Bug reported by Kasper Andersen.

Matrices

Module over Dedekind domains

  • A bug in Basis has been discovered by S. Glasby. Instead of a (pseudo) basis, the first generators were returned.

Polynomial Rings

  • An inefficiency in multiplying large rational polynomials by scalars has been fixed. Reported by H. Hubrechts.
  • A crash in IsPrime over fields of fractions has been fixed. Reported by K. Binder.

Polynomials

  • A bug in multivariate factorization over cyclotomic fields has been fixed. Reported by M. Grassl.

Rings

  • Expansions of elements of function fields at places can now be computed quicker than before.
