Patch release for Magma V2.14-17. Updated areas: Diophantine Equations, Elliptic Curves, Galois Groups, Matrix Groups, Modules and 4 more.
Diophantine Equations¶
- Fix an internal error in
Solutionsof a Thue-equation. Reported by M. Bennet. - A wrong bound (too small in certain cases) was used in
UnitEquationresulting in internal errors.
Elliptic Curves¶
- A crash in point multiplication has been fixed (and the computation sped up). Reported by D. Kern.
Galois Groups¶
- Add support for trivial extensions in
GaloisSplittingFieldwhich would fail on linear polynomials. Reported by T. Dokchitser.
Matrix Groups¶
- A hang in matrix group order over fields of characteristic zero has been fixed. Reported by D. Yasaki.
Modules¶
- In
RowSpacecheck for availability of echelon algorithm.
Number Field Sieve¶
- Add better input checking to the NFS function to avoid internal errors further down. Reported by M. Grassl.
Polynomial Rings¶
ExactQuotienthas been extended to handle more general rings in recursive definitions. Reported by M. Stoll.- A crash in multiplication of very large polynomials has been fixed. Reported by D. Harvey.
System¶
- Some problems with lock files for packages have been fixed. Reported by M. Stoll.
p-adic Rings and Fields¶
- Use faster determinant algorithm.
- Improve precision estimates in
SplittingField. Fixes a problem reported by T. Dokchitser.
