Magma V2.11-6 Patch Notes

Patch release for Magma V2.11-6. Updated areas: Algebraic Fields, Commutative Algebra, Groups, Interpreter, Matrix Algebras.

Algebraic Fields

  • CoveringStructure for number fields of different types has been added.
  • The degrees of places of relative fields has been fixed.

Commutative Algebra

  • The function HilbertSeries for ideals has been greatly sped up.

Groups

  • Two classes of maximal subgroups of $Alt(574)$ have been added. They are primitive, isomorphic to $PSL(2,41)$, and do not extend to maximal subgroups of $Sym(574)$. Bug reported by Colva Roney-Dougal.

Interpreter

  • The total time field in profiler output now reflects the time taken by the intrinsic as a percentage of total time. This is a more useful metric than with the previous behaviour.

Matrix Algebras

  • The ambiguous IsNilpotent signature for matrix algebra elements has been removed.
